How We Support People

The grants we give financially support two areas of developmental work:

1. Projects – these are long term infrastructure projects supporting community development including the building and renovation of school classrooms, clinics, hydro-electric power plants, water supply and distribution. We also invest in income-generating items such as corn grinders, tea cutters and ovens, as well as all the equipment needed for education and health, and also start-up grants for small businesses.

2. Programmes – these are long term investments in people which include salaries for the staff such as teachers, counsellors, builders and coaches. We fund the costs for child counselling and emotional support, vocational training, medical referrals and emergencies, sports training, life skills curriculum, early child development premises and a feeding programme.

The UK charity and the US organisation raises funds and provides funds to its NGO partners in Kenya and Nepal to fund projects and programmes that reflect the central aims of the charity.

The money is collected by fundraising events and a range of donors and supporters, and the UK trustees work closely with the in-country NGO trustees and the local communities and beneficiaries to decide on the level of commitment, the amount of funding, and the parameters of the donation.

The main beneficiaries of our work are disadvantaged children, young people, families and communities in Kenya and Nepal. These are the two countries which were chosen by the founder during many years of working there.

Our activities incur no harm to any person or persons, and we take measures to protect staff, beneficiaries and the wider community who are involved with or affected by our work. We are always conscious of identifying and mitigating against any potential negative consequences related to our work and we use this information for our future projects and programmes.
